► (1815-64) Matemático británico. Su obra más importante, Una investigación de las leyes del pensamiento (1854), propone la representación de las ideas por medio de símbolos matemáticos.

Matemático británico. A pesar de que fue básicamente autodidacta y de no tener un grado académico, en 1849 fue nombrado profesor de matemática en el Queen's College, en Irlanda. Su original y notable método simbólico general de inferencia lógica, es presentado en su totalidad en su Investigación sobre las leyes del pensamiento (1854). Boole argumentaba de manera persuasiva que la lógica debería estar relacionada con la matemática más que con la filosofía, y su álgebra de la lógica basada en dos valores, ahora llamada álgebra booleana, es utilizada en la conmutación telefónica y por las computadoras electrónicas digitales.
